Club History
|
The Charlton Garden Club was founded in 1937. The Club met continuously, except for a brief time during World War II, due in part to gasoline rationing. More than 200 people have enjoyed membership in the Club since. The Club's purpose was, and remains, "To create interest in gardening in all its branches, and encourage the beautification of home and community". Dues were $.50 in the beginning, increased in 1951 to $1.00, in 1957 to $2.00 and in 1985 to $5.00. They were raised in 2000 to $10.00 and in 2005 to $20.00. |
